Here, in this blog, we’ll discuss everything about Asphalt Patching Methods.

Asphalt Patching Methods

Patching is a good technique to extend the life of pavement when small, isolated areas have deteriorated and require repairs.

The good thing about the asphalt patching methods is it prolongs life and delays the decline of spaces to save you from a more complex and expensive Pothole Repair Toronto

Well, let’s see some of the commonly used Asphalt Patching Methods:

#1: Throw-and-roll

This is a temporary patching method in which contractors fill liquid asphalt into a hole and then roll over it.

Further, it’s normally done in winter or adverse weather conditions when a “quick fix” or emergency patch is essential.

Asphalt application is in layers and starts to solidify as it reacts with air.

#2: Semi-permanent Patches

A long-term solution, this method needs proper surface preparation.

Water and remains are first removed with the help of a broom or air compressor.

And after this, the area that needs patching is cut back with a hand tool or power equipment.

The prepared crack is then filled with the patching mix and compacted with a roller.

#3: Spray Injection Method

In this method, contractors use particular truck-mounted equipment to first blow out water and debris from the crack or potholes and then inject emulsion into it.

While the injecting is carried out at high-pressure, no compaction is essential.

This Asphalt Patching Technique is ideal in adverse conditions. And it is often preferred to the temporary throw-and-roll method.

#4: Full-depth Patching

This technique involves excavating the patching area to a depth of 4 inches or more and extending at least one foot into the near area in order to provide more support.

Asphalt contractors apply a tack coat prior to the asphalt mix followed by a backfill for the right bonding.

There are various techniques used in Pothole Repairs Toronto and performing asphalt patching.

These techniques are useful to fill up cracks, potholes, and repair roads, pavements, parking lots, etc.

  1. It’s interesting to know that spray injections can also be done doing some asphalt patching. I’m interested in looking for ways to repair my asphalt driveway because it hasn’t been maintained for years. I hope that hiring paving contractors in the summer wouldn’t be hard to do considering that I’m not sure which are the peak months for such services.
